“This next one’s going to be pretty and about love” -The Dutch Kills
October 10th, 2025

We were fixing to get an early jump on the weekend, so on Thursday night we clawed down to Nightclub 101 on the lower east side for the early show. Snowmen were celebrating the release of their single Primordial Soup with support from The Dutch Kills. Sometimes a five band bill that starts at 9:00 pm is the best thing ever. Other times, it’s not. This double header was short, sweet, punchy, and to the point. Here’s what went down:
The Dutch Kills were drawing up their setlist minutes before showtime, letting us know we were in for an in-the-moment inspired performance. They opened with Molly Screams, an unreleased rocker that will debut at a future season near you. Every time we see them we concur with ourselves that their lead is one of the best rock vocalists in Rrrat City. At one point they asked “does anyone like dogs in here”. Ourselves and a few others barked in response because we knew what was coming next. Come to their next show and find out for yourself.
Snowmen opened up their set with Prophet Margins, a sick dance-punk tune with an even sicker music video. With three guitarists (not including bass) wielding sharp, crispy tones, we were sometimes reminded of the angular/refractive guitar work found on Bloc Party’s Silent Alarm. Speaking of incredible debuts, this single release is in anticipation of Snowmen’s debut album A Kick To The Face, dropping on November 7th. We’re fully expecting our senses to be kicked around by it, in the best way.
Like we said, short, sweet, punchy. Like a shot of fireball. We sometimes make a drink during the hotter months called a sunburn, a mix of fireball and Sunny D. Summer is in the rearview now, though. The first brisk evenings of fall have arrived, with snow season not long after that. A perfect time for a group like Snowmen to drop an album. Mark your calendars, be on the lookout. See you around, Rrrat Pack.
